A 46-year-old Bermudian man is currently in remand in a Bahamas jail after he waived an extradition hearing and instead opted to return to Bermuda to face a number of drug charges.

Rudolph Travers Clarke, who was jailed in the US in 2012 for his role in a $3.9 million heroin plot, was arrested in Mayaguana last week.

His Bahamian lawyer Ian Cargill requested that Clarke be extradited to Bermuda as soon as possible. Clarke is due to reappear in court on Thursday.

Meanwhile, in an unrelated incident, two unnamed Bermudian males are currently assisting Barbados police with inquiries after a yacht was intercepted in a joint exercise between the Barbados Drug Squad, Police Marine Unit and the Barbados Coast Guard which resulted in over 170 pounds of cannabis, valued at approximately $684,000, being seized.
